Tim Sherwood has claimed that Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan would prefer a move to Barcelona over ARSENAL.
Ilkay Gundogan has won five Premier League titles since joining Manchester City in 2016 and scored four goals in his last four appearances to help Guardiola’s side overhaul long-time leaders Arsenal and reach the Champions League final.
Manchester City are keen to secure his services for at least one more season but the 32-year-old is yet to commit as he would likely receive a considerable signing-on fee if he joined a new club on a free.
Overe the past few windows Mikel Arteta has managed to sign a few Man City players that have made a real difference to the side and that has led to reports that they would like to add Gundogan to the squad this summer
However – amid all the speculation and rumours – Sherwood has opened up and claimed that Gundogan would prefer a move to the Camp Nou this summer – speaking to the No Tippy Tappy podcast as quoted by TeamTalk, Sherwood said
“Where’s he going to go? I can’t see him playing for another Premier League side,”
Sherwood acknowledges Gundogan’s potential fit under Mikel Arteta’s management, however, he believes that the player would jump at the chance to sign with one of La Liga’s giants.
“I know Mikel Arteta wants to take him, he knows the player inside-out, he’ll fit into anyone’s team.
I think if Barcelona come in or Real Madrid I think he’s got to jump and take that opportunity as he’s done it all here,”
Even though Arteta would love to add Gundogan to the squad – this is a move that is never going to happen guys
