Jake McCarthy hit a tiebreaking homer in the eighth inning and Corbin Carroll belted a two-run blast later in the frame to help the Arizona Diamondbacks notch a 6-3 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday night in Phoenix

Christian Walker added a two-run homer and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a solo shot for the Diamondbacks, who have won two straight games following a three-game slide

Andres Gimenez homered for Cleveland, which has lost four of its past five games.

McCarthy ripped the fifth pitch of the eighth inning from Cleveland ace Shane Bieber (5-4) over the fence in right center to give Arizona a 3-2 lead. It was his second homer of the season.

One out later, Ketel Marte singled to center before Carroll came up. On the second pitch, Carroll slammed a 426-foot homer into the stands in right center. It was Carroll’s 15th homer of the campaign.

That ended Bieber’s night after 7 1/3 innings. He allowed five runs and seven hits and walked two while striking out five.

Gurriel hit his 11th homer of the season later in the eighth off Nick Sandlin.

Steven Kwan and Amed Rosario had four hits apiece for the Guardians

Jose Ramirez hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth for Cleveland.

Arizona’s Tommy Henry gave up two runs and seven hits over six innings. He struck out three and walked two.

Six of the seven hits off Henry were from Kwan and Rosario.

Cleveland pushed across a run in the first when Gimenez drew a two-out, bases-loaded walk against Henry.

Gimenez came to the plate with two out in the third and homered just inside the right field foul pole to make it 2-0. The blast was his fifth of the season.

Walker tied the score in the fourth when he hit a two-run homer to right center. He has 14 homers.
