Miami Dolphins rookie wide receiver Daewood Davis was released from a Jacksonville-area hospital on Sunday, able to travel home with team personnel, the team announced.

In Saturday’s preseason finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Davis was hit by linebacker Dequan Jackson in the fourth quarter. After falling to the ground, he was tended to by medical personnel from both the Dolphins and Jaguars, then placed on a backboard and taken off the field and to Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville.

Postgame, the team announced that Davis, 24, was conscious and had “movement in all extremities.”

The game was called with eight minutes, 32 seconds remaining, giving the Jaguars a 31-18 win.

“A lot of guys respect him, he’s very well-respected in the locker room,” Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa said. “He’s a great player, he’s a great teammate. He’s a great person. It just would’ve hard to have gone back out after seeing something like that.”

Davis played two seasons at Oregon, then two at Western Kentucky.

In 2022 with the Hilltoppers, he played in 12 games, catching 63 passes for 872 yards and seven touchdowns.
