Rangers rally from 6-0 deficit to defeat Blue Jays

Corey Seager had four hits and three RBIs and the Texas Rangers came back to defeat the visiting Toronto Blue Jays 11-7 on Sunday afternoo

Leody Taveras had a two-run homer among his three hits and had three RBIs for the Rangers, who overcame a 6-0 deficit to take the rubber match of the three-game series

Jonah Heim added a solo homer and Ezequiel Duran had four hits for Texas.

Toronto right-hander Chris Bassitt allowed five runs, seven hits and three walks in 3 2/3 innings.

Texas right-hander Jon Gray allowed six runs, six hits and three walks in 2 1/3 innings.

Toronto scored once in the first against Gray, who missed his previous start because of a finger blister, George Springer singled. Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. walked and Daulton Varsho hit a sacrifice fly.

Toronto added four in the second. Alejandro Kirk was hit on the hand by a pitch and was replaced by Danny Jansen, who was forced at second on Espinal Santiago’s grounder. Spencer Horwitz singled in his major league debut, Springer walked with one out, Whit Merrifield blooped a two-run single and Bichette hit a two-run double.

The lead reached 6-0 in the third, Varsho and Jansen singled. John King replaced Gray and a run scored on Horwitz’s grounder to first. King (1-0) went on to allow one run in 3 1/3 innings.

Texas scored twice in the bottom of the inning with the help of two errors, a walk and Josh Jung’s RBI single.

The Rangers cut the lead to 6-5 in the fourth on Seager’s two-run double and Adolis Garcia’s RBI single

Texas took an 8-6 lead against Nate Pearson (4-1) in the fifth. Heim hit his ninth homer of the season. A walk and a single set up an RBI single by Taveras and Marcus Senien’s sacrifice fly,

Springer had an RBI single in the sixth to pull Toronto within one.

Duran singled with one out in the seventh against Adam Cimber and Taveras hit his eighth homer of the season. Semien doubled. Mitch White replaced Cimber and allowed Seager’s RBI single.

Joe Barlow pitched around a single in the ninth for Texas.
