Hers is a roundup of the top Arsenal news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you may have missed today –

ARSENAL fans have hailed Edu and Mikel Arteta for tying Reiss Nelson down to a new long-term deal.

Nelson has been the subject of intense speculation over the past few months as there has been alot of talk that he would be allowed to leave after failing to agree a new contract at the Emirates.

However – it was revealed this week that Nelson has now agreed to stay at the club – and it is a deal that the Gunners fans are very happy about – as they have taken to social media to show their delight.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED –

Two happy fans Tweeted: “Best team in the world right now.”

Another commented: “The vision at Arsenal is strong.”

A fourth fan wrote: “Good news for Arsenal.”

A fifth said: “Great moment 🤩😍❤️🤍.”

While another added: “Last season was the warm-up, we are about to cook everybody.”

WHAT DID NELSON SAID ABOUT HIS NEW DEAL –

“I’m kind of lost for words If I’m honest,”

“I’ve been here since I was eight, I’m 23 now. It’s been a hell of a journey, and I’m just so happy. My family are ARSENAL supporters, so that makes it even happier.

‘I’m just really happy and I can’t wait to get started for the new season.”

“It’s just the way we played last season. I’ve been here for many years, I’ve been here the good years and bad years, and last year especially, I’ve seen the rise that Arsenal have taken.

‘Taking them to new heights and I feel like I want to be part of the journey.

“I want to be part of us going to the next level, which I think the boss, Edu, the backroom staff and the new players and the current players are making.

‘So it was a train I really didn’t want to miss and I want to be here for it, so I’m glad that I made the right decision.

“[Mikel Arteta] told me he’s seen a massive change in me and he feels like I’m at the next level and it feels like there’s so many more different levels that I can go to.

“So that was the conversation I had with him. And for me, I want to prove to him, prove to everyone around, how many levels I can actually go to and that’s what we spoke about.”

Havertz claim made –

ARSENAL newboy Kai Havertz has been tipped to be one the greatest players of his “generation” by former Chelsea ace Pat Nevin.

Havertz made the decision to leave Chelsea at the very start of the transfer window after a very disappointing campaign at Stamford Bridge – and the Gunners swooped in and offered him a move to the Emirates.

It came as a shock to many to see the German make the move across London – but he is now on a reported £350k-a-week contract at the Emirates – and has now been tipped for great things.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

He told OLBG: Havertz leaving hurts the most. I think Havertz could be one of the greatest players of his generation.

“He was playing at center-forward though, and that is not his strongest position. Playing there really took away the strongest parts of his game.

“Arsenal have sealed an absolute cracker of a deal with Havertz. I’m really confident that Arteta will be able to get the best out of him as well.

“Arsenal’s team for next season is already looking extremely good. I think replacing Xhaka in midfield as well is a big upgrade.

“Even though he scored the winner for Chelsea in the Club World Cup and the Champions League, we still have not seen the best of him. Arsenal have got a great player.

“While I think Chelsea may have got the better deal in terms of selling Mount, I think Arsenal have got the better deal by signing Havertz.”

WILL HAVERTZ BE A GOOD SIGNING –

The talent is there – the ability is there and he seems to want to be the best – so if Arteta can get the best out of Havertz – he will be a very good signing for the club.

Tierney told to move –

Alan Smith has encouraged Kieran Trierney to pack his bags this summer and leave ARSENAL.

A few seasons ago – Tierney was a player that the fans loved and that Mikel Arteta really relied on – but injuries have really ruined his time at the Emirates and he has really struggled for game time.

That has led to constant speculation in the media that he is one player that will be leaving the club – with the likes of West Ham and Newcastle two clubs that are interested in a possible deal.

Now – amid all the speculation and rumours – Smith believes Kieran Tierney should be looking for a summer move after struggling for game-time last season.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

Smith told Gambling Zone.: ‘It seems that he’s not quite an Arteta player in terms of his playing style, but as a personality, he is.

‘Kieran Tierney’s attitude is first class, but that kind of attacking left back bombing down the outside and getting crosses in doesn’t seem to be the way that Arteta wants to go. He likes to play with an inverted full back.

‘Defensively, one against one, he is better than Zinchenko. It looks like he might leave the club, which is a shame because the fans love him.

‘They love his attitude. He deserves to be playing every week and whoever gets him will be signing a good player and person.’

SHOULD TIERNEY LEAVE THE CLUB?

The short answer is yes he should.

He is now well down the pecking order at the Emirates and will struggle to make an impact next season – and he needs to be playing at this stage of his career.

There are some decent teams interested – so a move may be a very good idea.
